Creative Dr. Seuss Inspired Free Printables

Are you looking for some creative Dr. Seuss inspired free printables to celebrate Read Across America Day coming up March 2?

I pulled a few of my favorites from my Dr. Seuss Link Collection.

Angie, from The Country Chic Cottage has this fun striped Dr. Seuss bookmark and reading log.

There is a Green Eggs and Ham sight word printable game at Mommy Lessons 101.

I also have a Green Eggs and Ham printable matching game which is also great for cutting practice.

Another popular printable here at obSEUSSed is the One Fish Two Fish placemat counting game.  This is great to play with gold fish crackers.

Another great printable for a Dr. Seuss party are these Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcake signs.

One of my favorites are these adorable Thing 1, Thing 2 paper bag puppet printable pieces from Nicole at Momentity.  Print them and have kids color and cut them out and glue them to a paper bag.

Dr. Seuss Book Club

We’ve been collecting Dr. Seuss books for years now.  I even have a few from my childhood.  I also like to pick up extra books to use for crafting.  We have books in every nook and cranny in our house. This is the Dr. Seuss quote that inspired me to start this blog.


I assume most people with children have a Dr. Seuss book or two in their home already, but, if you are just starting your collection, or want to add to it, you should check out this Dr. Seuss Book Club.

I am a new affiliate for the Early Moments Dr. Seuss Book Club and receive a portion of sales for those who sign up. These programs and ads help me run this blog.  If you are looking to grow your Dr. Seuss collection, this is a great way to do it.

Polar Express Ticket Bookmark and Bell

The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg, is a Christmas classic we read each holiday.  My kids love the story book and movie.

"TICKETS PLEASE"
Everyone needs a ticket to ride on the Polar Express.  Let kids pretend to be the conductor and punch holes in these tickets to use as bookmarks.

We just used red construction paper but laminated it at the end to make it stronger and more durable. You could also use gold paper if you have it to be more like the movie. Card stock would be best.



I marked the word “BELIEVE” with x’s on the bookmark. Tell kids to try to punch out the x’s. I used a black permanent marker to draw a quick border and some words. Then I laminated the ticket and added one hole punch on one end so I could tie the bell on the side.
I found this 9-pack of bells for $1.00 at the Dollar Tree. I easily tied them to the bookmark.

Make one for every child in your family so they all have a ticket and a bell to hold while reading the book. This would also be a great classroom project for schools during the holidays.

Book Order Bucks, Reading Incentive Bookmarks

Book Order Bucks - Bookmarks
This past year I created Book Order Bucks for my first-grader. For each chapter book she finishes reading she fills out the title on the blank bookmark/buck. She has been flying through the Rainbow Fairy series. 
If she reads five books she gets $5 credit for the next book order that she receives at school. We love getting book order forms from Scholastic. They have great prices and everything is divided by reading levels. It can add up when my daughter circles 13 books she wants. This incentive program helps her learn to budget what she has earned.

SUMMER READING INCENTIVE
During the summer I tell her she can pick out five books at the thrift store as her reward. This is a better deal for me because the books are only 50 cents. It motivates her to keep reading and she loves seeing her progress and tracking how many books she has read.
